Every Airbnb stay now sends 10 cents to emergency housing.
The automatic contribution does not raise guest prices or reduce host payouts, and Airbnb.org says it has already provided 1.6 million free nights.

Beginning October 28, Airbnb started donating 10 cents from every completed stay to Airbnb.org, which provides free temporary housing to people facing disasters, medical travel, displacement and other crises.
WHAT HAPPENED
The company says the contribution will not increase guest prices or reduce host payouts. Airbnb projects the funding model will help provide $500 million to Airbnb.org over five years and support a goal of one million free nights annually by 2030. The nonprofit says it has already provided 1.6 million nights of free housing to more than 250,000 people since 2020, including responses to more than 200 disasters in 2026.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
A travel platform turned a tiny automatic slice of every transaction into a standing housing fund. The promising part is not just the future target but the existing emergency-housing network behind it. The caveat matters: $500 million and one million annual nights are forward-looking goals, not results already delivered.
