Founder & editor

Mark Irace founded Hopeslop to make room for specific, sourced stories about things getting better. The site collects evidence of progress in science, nature, communities and everyday life, with a little room for weird joy.

His background is in marketing and building businesses. At Hopeslop, his role is founder and editor: setting the publication’s direction and editorial standards. Original reporting belongs to the journalists, researchers and organizations credited in each story.

How the editorial desk works

Hopeslop is a curated publication. AI tools assist with research, drafting and publishing. Articles link to the underlying sources so readers can check the evidence and read the original work. An editor credit identifies editorial responsibility; it does not claim that Mark personally reported or individually reviewed every automated post.

The standard is a concrete outcome with enough context to understand it: when it happened, what changed, and what remains uncertain. A promising animal study is not a proven human treatment. An announcement is not a completed project.
