THE UK MADE A FREE EMERGENCY PLAN FOR EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD.

A free online toolkit developed with Nottingham Trent University guides UK communities through eight areas of preparedness, from understanding local risks to mapping useful skills and checking on vulnerable neighbours.

WHAT HAPPENED

Ready Together breaks community emergency planning into eight practical areas. Neighbours can identify local hazards, agree how they will communicate, map equipment and skills, plan support for people who may need extra help, and connect their plan with local services.

The project was developed with researchers at Nottingham Trent University and is designed to be usable without specialist training. Instead of asking households to prepare alone, it treats trust and local knowledge as shared emergency infrastructure.

WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP

Resilience is often described as stockpiles and checklists. This makes room for something more human: knowing who has a generator, who speaks another language, who checks on the person upstairs, and who can open the hall. A plan becomes hopeful when people can see themselves inside it.
