A 3.75-MEGAWATT-HOUR BATTERY MOVED INTO AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
Big storage. Lower bills.

Peace Bridge Place, an affordable-housing complex in Buffalo, now has a 3.75 MWh lithium-ion battery system designed to store power during lower-demand periods and serve the building when electricity is scarce or expensive.
WHAT HAPPENED
The battery can support the all-electric complex during outages, reduce peak-grid draw and return power when needed. Viridi and Good Carbon say it is among the largest systems in a U.S. residential building. New York's energy agency helped fund the project, and the enclosure passed stringent safety testing intended for indoor use.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
Clean-energy infrastructure is most hopeful when resilience and affordability arrive together. This project puts serious storage where people actually live, while treating battery safety as the main engineering problem to solve.
