THE HELICOPTER CREW GOT HIM OFF THE TRUCK IN UNDER FIVE MINUTES.
An 80-foot hoist, one deputy on the wire and a crew that did not waste a second.

When a driver became trapped on an overturned truck in fast-rising water near Tonopah, Arizona, a sheriff’s aviation crew turned an 80-foot hoist into a five-minute exit.
WHAT HAPPENED
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fox 1 pilot Rich Dickner positioned the helicopter while Deputy Lindsey Smith descended about 80 feet to the truck. The crew secured the man and lifted him clear in under five minutes. He reached safety as floodwater continued to rise around the vehicle.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
Competence can be its own kind of comfort. In a scene where minutes mattered, a practiced crew made a terrifying rescue look almost routine — not because it was easy, but because they were ready.
