Côte d’Ivoire added 684,735 electricity connections in 2025, a jump the African Development Bank says enabled around 3.56 million more people to access electricity. The country is working toward universal electricity access by 2030 under its National Energy Compact.
WHAT HAPPENED
The African Development Bank reported on September 14, 2026 that Côte d’Ivoire made 684,735 new electricity connections during 2025, enabling around 3.56 million more people to access electricity. Clean-cooking access reached around 41%, while renewables accounted for 34% of the energy mix. The work is not finished: universal electricity access is still a 2030 target, and by early 2026 five of the Compact’s 23 actions were complete, 12 were underway and six were behind schedule.
