A POLICE DOG FOUND THREE LOST CHILDREN. ALL THREE CAME HOME SAFE.
Arch caught the trail. Search teams followed it. Three families got the ending they needed.
A Colorado sheriff’s K-9 gave a fast-moving search the direction it needed after three young children disappeared from a campsite.
WHAT HAPPENED
On September 26, three children under 10 wandered away near the Midland Bike Trail east of Buena Vista. After the family searched for two hours, deputies, volunteer search-and-rescue teams, drones and a helicopter joined in. K-9 Arch picked up the scent at the campsite and led teams toward the children’s route. Searchers spotted them about 1.5 miles away; all three were uninjured.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
The technology was impressive. The volunteers mattered. But the decisive thing was a dog doing the ancient work dogs do best — following the invisible line home.
