On Sep 19, Best Friends and Los Angeles Animal Services got 395 dogs out of the city's six shelters for Adventure Buddies Day. Twenty-three were adopted and 14 went into foster homes instead of returning to kennels. Eighteen dogs had more than one outing.
WHAT HAPPENED
Community members took shelter dogs for day trips to beaches, trails, homes and neighborhoods. Best Friends reports 395 Los Angeles dogs participated; 23 were adopted and 14 entered foster homes instead of returning to kennels.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
The point wasn't a viral cuddle photo. Hundreds of ordinary people temporarily emptied kennels, and for 37 dogs the temporary exit became an adoption or foster placement.
