A malaria vaccine price deal could protect up to one million more children.
The planned 40% price cut could save about $50 million over three years.

A new procurement agreement is expected to lower the price of the RTS,S malaria vaccine by roughly 40 percent, freeing about US$50 million and potentially extending protection to as many as one million additional children.
WHAT HAPPENED
Gavi and UNICEF say the price is set to fall to €5.50 per dose under an agreement covering 2027–2029. The savings could let countries and donors buy more doses with the same budget as malaria vaccines continue rolling out in high-burden countries.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
Price is part of access. A cheaper proven vaccine can stretch constrained health budgets and reach more children. The important caveat is timing: the reduction depends on manufacturing and regulatory milestones and is not an immediate expansion today.
