GHANA CUT MALARIA DEATHS 98%.

Ghana has turned a once-routine killer into a far rarer cause of death, while keeping the unfinished work visible.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to Ghana Health Service, reported malaria deaths declined from 3,259 in 2011 to 52 in 2025. Officials credit expanded use of insecticide-treated nets, seasonal malaria chemoprevention, better diagnostics, treatment and surveillance. The country is now pursuing elimination district by district.
