$325 MILLION WILL PUT 42 WORKING-LANDS CONSERVATION PROJECTS INTO PRACTICE.

The 2026 RCPP awards pair federal funding with local partners for conservation projects on agricultural, grassland and forest land; USDA says 75% of this year’s funding will go directly to farmers or cover conservation-practice implementation.

WHAT HAPPENED

The 42 selected projects focus on soil health, water quality, wildlife habitat, precision agriculture and tribal-led work. One Iowa partnership projects more than 300,000 acres of cover crops and reductions of roughly 3.3 million pounds of nitrogen, 336,000 pounds of phosphorus and one million tons of soil loss while supporting grazing systems.

WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP

The money is structured to make practical conservation less financially risky for landowners and to connect public funds with local implementation. The scale is meaningful and the producer-payment share is concrete. The projected environmental outcomes still have to be delivered and measured.
