A Memphis church and mosque that became neighbors in 2010 are still turning their interfaith friendship into an annual blood drive.
WHAT HAPPENED
Memphis Islamic Center listed the 2026 MIC–Heartsong Annual Blood Drive for September 13. The two congregations became neighbors in 2010, and their relationship has included shared events, service projects and an annual blood drive that began the following year.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
Because the hopeful part is not one symbolic gesture. It is the repetition: two communities with different faiths choosing, year after year, to literally give blood side by side.
