The first truckload linked hospital surplus to a nonprofit shipping network instead of a dumpster.

A 16-YEAR-OLD RESCUED 30,000 POUNDS OF UNUSED MEDICAL SUPPLIES.

Project MedBridge, founded in 2026 by 16-year-old Ben Kurian, helped move roughly 30,000 pounds of sealed N95 masks and hot-and-cold packs from an OhioHealth facility into a nonprofit redistribution network rather than letting usable stock expire.

WHAT HAPPENED

Kurian connected the hospital surplus to Pittsburgh-based Brother's Brother Foundation, which handles shipping to under-resourced clinics. The project joins a wider student-led ecosystem that sorts supplies, checks expiration dates and supports established medical-supply redistribution organizations.

WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP

The story is hopeful because it closes a glaring logistical gap with coordination rather than a futuristic invention. Young volunteers found usable goods on one side, real need on the other and built the missing bridge—while relying on experienced partners for safe distribution.
