The travel host bought the old single-screen theater he grew up with in Edmonds, Washington, with plans to keep it alive as a local gathering place.
WHAT HAPPENED
Steves purchased the Edmonds Theater for about $2 million after decades of personal connection to it. He told KNKX he hopes to renovate its Art Deco character, keep showing films and make the building available to nonprofit organizations as a meeting place.
WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP
Not every piece of good news needs to save the planet. Sometimes somebody with the means to help decides the old neighborhood movie theater gets another chapter.
