EU REGULATORS BACKED A NEW PANCREATIC-CANCER PILL.

A notoriously hard-to-treat cancer may soon have another targeted oral option in Europe.

WHAT HAPPENED

The European Medicines Agency's medicines committee recommended Rasonque (daraxonrasib), a once-daily oral RAS inhibitor, for certain adults with metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma after at least one prior therapy or when combination treatment is unsuitable. The European Commission still has to make the final authorization decision.

WHY THIS IS HOPESLOP

Pancreatic cancer has offered patients too few options for too long. A new targeted pill is not a cure, and price and access may sharply limit who benefits, but another evidence-based route after treatment failure is real room to move.
