KEYC reported on 21 September 2026 that after a flash flood hit New Richland, Minnesota over the weekend of 19 September, members of the NRHEG football team assisted in a pontoon rescue while lawmakers discussed disaster relief for damaged facilities.

The teenagers who usually get talked about for what they do on a Friday night spent a Saturday standing in floodwater, hauling on a rope. Nobody organised it into a program. They were there, so they helped.
